Hi, I am Abbigail Nelson; a hardworking, dedicated and career driven individual. It has always been a dream of mine to become a registered nurse. Despite the tiresome journey in working towards this dream, I persevered and acquired a BSc. in Nursing at the University of Technology. I later took my licensing exam, where I was successful and became a Registered Nurse in the beautiful island of Jamaica. In becoming internationally certified, I challenged myself in sitting the NCLEX exam in the year 2023. Though it was hard navigating and gathering the necessary resources needed on my own, I exercised resilience and determination. I was successful on my first trial and earned the title USRN. Understanding how tedious the process was in sitting the NCLEX exam independently, I decided to create a platform. This platform would serve as a means of sharing my knowledge in helping other Caribbean nurses who aspire to become USRN’s. After graduating from UTech in 2021, I consciously chose to pursue the NCLEX exam independently, seeking the flexibility to negotiate contracts with potential staffing agencies or hospitals on my own terms. With unwavering determination as my driving force, I embarked on the challenging journey to become a USRN in 2022. Despite facing numerous challenges due to lack of knowledge, I remained resolute in my pursuit. Finally, in 2023, I achieved success, passing the NCLEX exam on my very first attempt. Reflecting on my journey, I made a solemn commitment to aid fellow nurses in Jamaica and the Caribbean who share similar aspirations, offering them guidance to conquer the NCLEX independently, thereby bypassing the obstacles I encountered along the way, and ultimately enabling them to fulfill their dream of becoming USRNs.
